Pandavgad Fort Wai, Satara   |   Forts and Caves

Description

Pandavgad is the square headland visible from the city of Wai to the west. There are different ways to reach the fort. The fort can be reached from the Wai-Mandhardev Road near Gundewadi.

Another way to reach the fort is by walking from Renoshe settlement to Waghmale settlement. While going to the fort from this route, you can also see a Dhavadi cave. However, this is a longer route.

Pandavagad fort was built by Bhojraja II in the twelfth century. In 1648 it was under the control of Bijapurkars. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj conquered this fort in 1673.

On the fort plateau, there is a water tank, the temple of Pandjai Devi, and the Maruti temple. At the base of the fort, there are some caves in the village of Dhavadi. These are called the Pandavgarh Caves.

A road passes through the Renoshe settlement near Dhavandi village on Wai-Mandhardev road. Coming from there through Chaudharwadi, Waghmale settlement, there are two caves at the base.

You can reach the Dhavadi village after climbing down the Pandavgad fort. There are water streams near the caves. The first cave has eight rooms, one within the other. In the second cave, there is a Shivling. This place attracts those who love trekking.
