Pateshwar Degaon, Satara   |   Hill and Temple

Description


Pateshwar is a place blessed by nature at a distance of 14 km from Satara city. Next to Satara Industrial Estate is Degaon, seven kilometers from there is the hill of Pateshwar. There are 8 ancient caves and 11 major temples in this area.

There is a big Shivalinga in the temple. This Shivling is decorated with bellflowers. Apart from the main Shivalinga, there are hundreds of pindis here. Among them, Ekmukhdhari Shivalinga, Chaturmukhdhari Shivalinga, Ashtadikpal Shivalinga, Harihar Shivalinga, Margal Mhaisa Shivalinga are particularly notable.

Considering other special idols, seeing one-faced Brahma, four-faced Shiva, Saraswati, Agnidev, Seshashayi Vishnu, Vainayaki, Tripura Ashtabhuja, Mahishasurmardini's head, Ashtamatrika, Navagraha, Dwadsavatar, Balibhadra etc. is a delight for tourists as well as for devotees and scholars. Vishweshwar Lake is on the hilltop. Its lotuses are eye-catching.

Shiva devotees especially throng here on Mahashivratri as well as on Shravani Monday.
