Description
To get the company of nature, Samarth used to meditate by going to the Ghal. There are some
ghalis that have been sanctified by their presence. Due to its sanctity and natural beauty, it is
currently attracting tourists.
- Ramghal of Helvak: This ghal is on the Koynanagar to Chiplun route, after going to
Kondavle village from Helvak, this ghal is behind a small waterfall. It is sixty by nine
meters and was loved by the Samarths. There are mentions of Samarth coming here in
1674 and 1682. Sundargad and Bhairavagad are nearby.

Ramghal of Chindragiri: It has a tree, a water fountain and a stone-framed entrance.
The route to this ghali is Karad - Talbid - Vasantgad - Naikbachi Khind - Chandragiri.
- Ramghal of Chaphal: This ghal is two storied. There is a wide opening in the roof
leading to the upper hall. There is a hole at the back to go left through the front cave.
There is a room and a window. There is Kubadi Tirtha near this ghali. The route to
Ghali is Chaphal - Shinganwadi - Borgewadi - Bhairavwadi, and if you are coming
from Patan, the route is Khandubai Pass - Mahabalwadi.
- Tondoshi Ghal: This Ghal is also known as Kalamba Ghal or Ghal of Tarla. This
ghal is 50 meters long. There are idols of Sri Ram-Lakshmana-Sita as well as idols of
Maruti in the ghal.
- Shivthar Ghal : This ghal is also called 'Sundarmath'. Samarth composed Dasabodha
here. He lived here for eight years from 1652 to 1660 AD. The ghal is 40 meters long,
25 meters wide and spacious. A waterfall falls from here. After seeing it, Samarth,
while describing the surrounding nature at the beginning of Dasbodha, has formulated
the phrase ‘Dhabdhaba Aadaltoy' (falling waterfall) . The late Samarth Bhakta
Sankarrao Shrikrishna Dev discovered this ghal. At present there are idols of Sri
Rama-Sita-Lakshmana, besides which idols of Samarth reciting Dasabodha-kathan
and Kalyanswamy writing Dasabodha have been situated.
- Ghal of Jarandi: Behind the Shri Ram Temple at Jarandeshwar is an excavated
groove. Ramdaswamy used to sit in it and meditate.
- Ghal of Sajjangad: This ghal is located under the Sajjangad tower near Parli village.
You have to crawl in this hole. Inside, there is ample space for meditation.
- Morghal: This ghal is near Morbagh village in the southwest of Sajjangarh. This ghal
has three mouths. It is 20 meters long, 6 meters wide and 3 meters high. In the center
are Shivlinga and carved sculptures of Moroba, Nandi, Buddha-like idols, Ganapati,
Sati, Veeragal, Nagoba and various stone carvings.
