Description

Sadashivgad near Karad city was built to guard the Surli Ghat on the route from Karad to Vita. The fort is spread over an area of fourteen and a half acres. The perimeter of the fort is quite large.

A large area can be seen from this fort. But in terms of defence, no construction is seen on the fort. So this fort must have been used only for surveillance.

The temple on Sadashivgad is always crowded with devotees. Wherever there is a settlement below the Sadashiv Fort, it is known by the names of Hazar Machi, Babar Machi, Rajmachi and Vanwas Machi (Gadmachi).

There are trails to reach the fort from each of these settlements. Steps are built to go to the fort from the hajar machi. There is a paved road leading to the steps. A private vehicle is accessible to deliver you directly to the steps.
