Bamnoli Bamnoli   |   Forest, Reservoir, Trekking

Description

The Bamnoli area is rich in fauna and flora due to the extensive Shivsagar reservoir formed by the Koyna dam and its tributaries including the Koyna, as well as the natural wooded hills preserved by the forest department.

Most of this region, known as Koyna Sanctuary, is now declared as Sahyadri Tiger Reserve, under the jurisdiction of the National Tiger Conservation Authority.

The Wildlife Department of the Forest Department takes care of the safety of the wildlife in this region like bears, tigers, leopards, and striped tigers. A launch from Bamnoli leads to the valleys of the Solshi and Kandati rivers, tributaries of the Koyna.

The area is very remote and tourists flock to this area for scenic beauty, lush greenery and boating pleasure. For mountain lovers and trekkers, the place is akin to paradise. You can visit the place from Bamnoli but only after prior permission from the wildlife department.

Boats are arranged from Bamnoli. You can return after exploring the beautiful region and experiencing the tranquillity. The trip to Bamnoli and back costs very little. Among the remote villages, Chakdev, Mallikarjuna, Vasota Fort, and Narayanaswamy at Shemdi are frequented by tourists.

The greenery and cool climes provided by the forest surrounding Bamnoli are calming and soothing.
