Description


Late Shri. Kashinathsheth Narayan Gawand, on getting his graduation i.e. Finals in those days (130 years back) decided not to take the job at British Govt instead to start his own business. In those times the graduated were to get good offer of clerk's job with fat salary in the British Govt. offices. Being an ardent follower of Lokmanya Tilak and with high respect for his thoughts, Kashinathsheth started his own business as a flower merchant. Within few years the business flourished. Purchasing the lands near Mumbai and Thane, from his profit business he was to receive lots of coins which developed his interest in coin collection. He collected almost 5000 coins and some weapons.

All this collection of his, carried on to his son Shri Madhavrao & then to his sons Late Shri Dattaram (DADAJI) and Late Shri Ram Gawand, who added valuable contribution of their own to it. Shri Kiran Ram Gawand, was in the 8th std in 1961. when he received almost 20000 coins from his father. During last 47 years adding almost 1,80,000 coins to it, today the collection has reached to more than 2,00,000 coins. In the museum, there are sections below sections to be watched.
