Shri Khandoba Mandir Pali Khandoba Mandir Pali   |   Temple

Description

This place was originally named Rajapur, this village is now known as Khandobachi Pal. This temple is Hemadpanti with fortifications on all four sides. It is said to have been constructed by Aaba Binshetty Padide. The temple is grand and spacious and is painted yellow due to the overflowing Bhandara (Yellow powder like turmaric). There are small shrines in the back of the temple premises. Pictures of Shivlingas, snakes, Nandi and rivers can be seen everywhere on the sides of the temple. In front of the temple is lamps and booth of Nandi. In the core there are brass masks of Khandoba, Mhalsa. The entrance to the sanctum sanctorum is covered with a brass plate. Inside there are stone seats for sitting on all sides. In front of this is Palai's Samadhi. A naga's impression is worth seeing here. There is a facility to reach Pal from Satara by government bus (ST). Here, Poush Shuddha Trayodashi on Mriga Nakshatra performs a festival for the marriage ceremony of Sri Khandoba and Mhalasa. Bhandara-coconuts are blown to the sound of 'Yelkot Yelkot Jai Malhar'. Lakhs of pilgrims come for this festival.

In this temple, some youths who preserve the history of Shivaji Maharaj have recently gifted a sword, which is a new attraction for tourists. Just like Khanderaya's 52 kg sword 'Khanda' is at Jejuri fort, the same sword has been produced at Pal, and this sword called 'Shivaradyni' weights as much as 102 kg.
