Description


Located on the Kolheshwar plateau near Mahabaleshwar, this fort is a watch fort. This fort can be reached via Wai. There is a temple of Gorakhnath on this fort, which has three stone idols of Gorakhnath. There is a very dense forest from the temple to the foothills of Katal (An identical row of stones or land of such stones). The Navara Navri hill is connected to Kamalgad and A mountain range leading towards Dhom Dam attracts attention. It is called the hill of husband and wife.

After proceeding from Machi (a long stretch of the plateau below the fort rampart), there is an embankment. From there one can enter the fort from the Katal side. Coming from the stairs to the plateau, a sword-shaped well is visible.

The cave on both sides of the steps in the well was used as a prison. It is recorded that Major Thatcher conquered this fort in 1818 AD. The thick bushes in the area of this fort provide shelter to several wild animals.
