Menavali Menavali   |   Village

Description

Menvali village is 3 kilometres from Wai. The village gained fame as a tourist destination due to the grand castle and temples built by Nana Fadnavis on the banks of the Krishna river.

Nana's castle is a mini fort and also a masterpiece of Marathi architectural style. The fort is surrounded by high fortifications. Carved water jugs can also be seen on the fort.

Another feature of this palace is that almost all the rooms in the palace have paintings based on different mythological stories. These paintings, painted between 1770 and 1800 AD, are a must-see.

The picture that stands out from all these is that of Mastani sitting in front of Peshwa Bajiraof. The distance from Satara to Menwali is 36 KM. You can proceed to Menwali from Wai.

The Prachanda Ghanta (Ringing bell) on the ghat of this village is also a centre of attraction, and like Wai, this village is also favoured for film shooting.
