Kenjalgad Wai, Satara   |   Forts

Description


A steep climb followed by scissor steps leads to this fort near Wai. The fort has three water tanks, remains of a Gunpowder store building, ruins of a castle and a temple of Mahadev and Devi.

To the east is a temple of Mahadev and Kenjalai Devi. It is said that this fort was built by Bhojraja of Panhala.

Pandavgad, Kamalgad, Chandanavandan forts and Dhom dam are visible from this fort.

The area of Dhom Dam is also very beautiful. It was one of the largest civil engineering projects in India at that time and also the first dam to be built on the Krishna River in Maharashtra. The Dhom dam attracts tourists in large numbers because of the beautiful natural surroundings and boating activities.
