At a distance of about 25 km to the southeast of Mahabaleshwar, Tapola is a village at the foot of the hill and is known as 'Mini Kashmir'. Boating in Shivsagar Reservoir like Dal lake can be enjoyed here. It is also compared to Kashmir because of its pleasant atmosphere.
There are hills covered with trees on all sides of Tapola, and there is a vast reservoir in the middle, which makes this place very attractive. There are many small villages located at the foot of the hill on the banks of the Shivsagar Reservoir, which cannot be reached without a launch.
As many of these villages now have resort and home hospitality facilities, this place has become a favourite for enthusiastic tourists. Tapola can be reached by private jeep or tourist cars from Mahabaleshwar. Also, one can reach Bamnoli via Satara to Tapola from there by the launch.
There are water scooters, launches, and hand boats along the reservoir in Tapola. With enough care, you can sit in it and enjoy sailing and boating.
You can take a ride in the launches to the surrounding villages. Launches go from Tapola to Bamnoli. As Tapola has many restaurants, you can also enjoy some local delicacies and relax after your boating trips.
