Description


This fort is believed to have been built between 1210 and 1247 by Singhan Raja of Devagiri. It is recorded that it was repaired by Shivaji Maharaja in 1676.

Bhushangad Fort is 17 km from Vaduj and the fort can be reached from Shirsavadi village via Gursale. You will have to climb 545 steps to reach the fort.

The design of the main gate (Mahadarwaja) is of Gow facing style, and steps to its left lead to the top of the fort.

The fort has an embankment lake, a temple of Harnai Devi, Deepmal, and a Tulsi Vrindavan. The temple of Devi is built on a square. A loft is also built on the fort, which adds to its beauty of the fort.

The view from here is stunning. Bhushangad village can be reached from Pusesavli or Palshi fork on Vaduj-Karad road. Also, Bhushangarh is 65 km away via Satara-Rahimatpur-Aundh route and you can reach the village through this route. After walking a distance of 2-3 km you can reach the fort.
