Description

There are two main temples worth visiting in this village: the Someshwar and Rameshwar temples. Someshwar temple is located in Gursale village and has been renovated many times. This temple has two pavilions. Its outer pavilion is said to have been built in the eighteenth century.

There are large statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Ramdas Swami in front of the pavilion. The pavilion is semi-circular, and is built in stone. It is the biggest part of this temple.

The original temple of Someshwar is built on a square of one meter and is of Hemadpanti style. There are pictures of some deities situated in the pavilion. In the core, there is a one- meter high square Shivlinga with a round Shalunka (The stone in the centre of which the emblem of Shiva is placed) on it.

The first pavilion has a basement, containing a hidden Shivalinga. He is worshipped along with Someshwara. Underground of this temple has some menhirs (a tall upright stone of a kind erected in prehistoric times)

The second temple in the village is that of Rameshwar, probably built in the 13th century. The sculptures and carvings in this temple are very beautiful and there are ornamental sculptures on the outside of the pavilion.

The pavilion also has some delicate carvings and carvings on the pillars. There is a Shivling in the core, this temple gives a different pleasure to the visitor.
