Description


This fort is 55 km from Satara. It was built during the period of Shivaji Maharaj’s reign. It takes 10 minutes to reach the fort from Mahimangad village.

The fort has a gateway, a Mahadev temple, a granary and five large and small water tanks. There is a tunnel from the pond on the eastern side to the next rampart.

The size of the fort is small and the entire fort can be seen in one to two hours. Jarandeshwar, Vardhangad, Chandan-Vandan forts can be seen from here.

There are no food and drink facilities at the fort. To reach here one can come by ST (State Transport) bus via Satara-Gondawale or Satara Pandharpur route. Mahimangarh is fortified on all four sides due to its low height. After crossing the ramparts and winding ramparts on both sides, the Maruti temple with a linear idol is seen.

There is a lake nearby. To the northeast of the fort, there are long trunk-like structures on the end, and there is a stone structures like towers on the loft of the fort. There is a small back door. This part of the fort is separated from the fort by a rampart.
