Description


Jarandeshwar mountain, which is a challenge to mountaineers, is located in the east of Satara. It grabs your attention as soon as you enter the city. The main identity of Jarandeshwar is the Hanuman temple here.

Among the many incidents of the Puranic era, a special note is told about this mountain. Lakshmana was wounded by the arrow of Ravana's son Indrajit in the battle of Ramayana.

At that time, important task Hanuman accepted the request of the doctors to bring Sanjivani, a medicinal plant from Dronagiri mountain, to save him. Hanuman, who had no knowledge of medicine, lifted the entire Dronagiri mountain and carried it from north to south. A part of the hill fell here. It came to be known as Jarandeshwar hill.

There is also a temple of Sri Rama on this hill. The Ram temple has marble idols of Ram, Sita, and Lakshmana. This Ram Mandir is behind the Maruti Mandir.

Here, there are five to six small and big stone ghats. They are called exercise boots.

The distance from Satara to Jarandeshwar is 12 km. Every Saturday many people come from Satara to visit Jarandeshwar. The joy of trekking is not complete without climbing Jarandeshwar.
